Clara Whitfield
Founder · Lead teacher
Clara opened Pilates House after a decade teaching in busy city studios. Her classes are precise, warm and never rushed.
It began with a simple idea: moving well takes time, and everyone deserves a teacher who is truly watching.
Pilates House opened in 2019 in a converted carriage house, with four reformers and a kettle.
Founder Clara Whitfield had spent a decade teaching in busy city studios and wanted the opposite: fewer people in the room, more time for each of them, and a space you would choose to linger in.
The studio has grown since then, but the principle has not. Classes stay small, teachers stay curious, and nobody is rushed through an exercise to keep up with the clock.
Every movement begins with the breath. It steadies the mind, wakes the deep core and sets the pace for everything that follows.
Slow, deliberate work builds strength you can feel in daily life. We would rather you do five repetitions well than twenty in a hurry.
As precision becomes familiar, movements begin to link together. The work feels less like exercise and more like ease.
Every teacher at Pilates House is comprehensively certified, and keeps training each year.
